High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The Tau is Hyundai Motor Company's newest V8 engine, replacing the Omega. It is reported to deliver an estimated 375 horsepower (280 kW) and 333 ft lbf (451 N m) of torque -- on premium unleaded fuel -- at 4.6 L (~281 cu in). Currently, the 5.0 L (~305 cu in) version of the engine delivers 394 horsepower (294 kW) and 369 ft lbf (500 N m) on premium unleaded fuel. The engine is currently being used in the Hyundai Equus and can adapt to run on regular fuel without damage however; doing so will slightly lower performance ratings. Reports also suggest the engine might be produced in 5.5 L (~336 cu in), with a supercharger installed from the factory. Hyundai Motor Company has also shown the 4.6 L (~281 cu in) Tau V8 at SEMA. This engine was equipped with a supercharger and cylinder deactivation technology to produce an estimated 460 horsepower (340 kW) while returning better fuel economy.
