This is the first time the extracts of various polarities of both medicinal plants namely Adenia lobata and Morinda lucida have been found to have hypoglycaemic activities.Various Antioxidant assays of both extracts were also confirmed.Again, valerolactone was for the first time isolated from Adenia lobata and showed promising hypoglycaemic effect.Other modifications can be applied to this compound which can yield antidiabetic product after its safety and efficacy have been duly assessed.

Joseph Adusei Sarkodie holds PhD Pharmacognosy from KNUST,Ghana in 2011,Msc Pharmaceutical Medicine Duisburg-Essen Uni-Germany, in 2005 and Bsc Chemistry from UCC,Ghana in 1999.He specialised in Phytochemistry,Standardization of herbal products and Chromatography.He is the Ag head of department of Pharmacognosy in School of Pharmacy,UG-Legon.
