In the genesis of hypertension in pregnancy, lipid peroxidation is described as a process that normally occurs in all tissues and cells, involving the oxidative conversion of unsaturated fatty acids to primary products known as hydroperoxides. In the genesis of hypertension in pregnancy, lipid peroxidation is described as a process that normally occurs in all tissues and cells, involving the oxidative conversion of unsaturated fatty acids to primary products known as hydroperoxides. Oxidative stress occurs when antioxidant mechanisms overwhelm oxidative systems. The ultimate goal of this process is endothelial dysfunction caused by ultrastructural deterioration to cell membranes.A relationship of lipid and apolipoprotein alterations with increased lipid peroxidation activity and oxidative stress has been established, therefore exploring evidence of an association between lipid fractions and the risk of preeclampsia may support and provide new insights into the etiology of this entity,The purpose of primary care is to prevent the development of pathologies that lead to long-term sequelae, so the determination of markers that allow establishing the increase of oxidative stress in patients with these hypertensive disorders could generate predictive methods to reduce maternal morbidity and mortality.
