"Human Land" is the legendary exhibition by Ikko Narahara, a great master of photography, held in 1956. For this exhibition, Narahara photographed Gunkanjima, which is an island coal mine community a few kilometers from Nagasaki, as well as the island of Sakurajima in Kagoshima, which has suffered a gigantic volcanic explosion in 1914. This is the acclaimed photobook published in conjunction with the exhibition and now reprinted with new bookmaking techniques after 30 years since its original release in 1987.
