An investigation was done using 66 genotypes (11 parents and their 55 diallel crosses). On the basis of storage seed protein profile using SDS - PAGE. An investigation was done using 66 genotypes (11 parents and their 55 diallel crosses). On the basis of storage seed protein profile using SDS - PAGE. The electrophoresis of extracted proteins was carried out at 20 mA of current . The gels after staining revealed 15 different protein bands falling in 4 distinct regions. In region I 7 protein bands were observed with approximate Mol. Wt. of 80 to 50 kD . In regions II there were 6 bands ( about 45 to 35 kD ) and 1 band in region III ( 22 to 20 kD ). Therewas 1 band in region IV(14kD). On the basis of presence or absence of bands, the binary data was obtained and subjected to determine the similarity coefficients ( Jaccard's Coefficient ) using NTSYS software. The similarity matrix thus obtained was used to construct a dendrogram of mustard genotypesby the un-weighted paired group method using arithmetic averages (UPGMA). the parents could not be distinguished on the basis on storage seed protein profile. Seventeen genotypes (crosses) differed from their parents and also from their other half-sibs. The results may indicate to the common sharing of the parents used in their deveopment.
