However, as of now, PWDs are yet to gain equal access to various civic amenities in the society. There is little doubt that transport holds the key for enabling the PWDs. Their mobility is seriously constrained due to inadequate public transport facilities. Unfortunately, research on this aspect is scarce in India. The authors of this book have attempted to fill this void by providing such data from a city in northern India. This work will be of help to enable the people with disabilities to participate effectively in society, especially in poor resource countries.
