Produktbeschreibung
Mikko Heikkinen and Markku Komonen are the most important architects in post-Aalto Finland. In twenty-five years of practice, they have designed numerous projects in their native Finland and throughout Scandinavia. Though their work has been widely published throughout Europe and in trade journals such as "Architectural Review" and "Progressive Architecture," "Heikkinen + Komonen" is the first monographic presentation of their work. Heikkinen and Komonen design in a cool, cerebral modernism; to this they add the quintessential elements of the Finnish artistic and architectural tradition: light, nature, and solitary disposition. Among the projects in this book are the Embassy of Finland in Washington, D.C. (their first building in the United States); the airport in Rovaniemi, Finland; the Heureka Science Center in Vantaa, Finland; and the new corporate headquarters for McDonald's in Helsinki.
