This book explores the health related challenges in Masvingo's Informal Settlements in lieu of lack of basic health amenities in these settlements. The crux of this book is on understanding how people living in these settlements respond to these health related challenges confronting them. The book unearthes how people in these settlements negotiate and maneouvre their way through these health challenges by devising a plethora of coping strategies. The author consequently drew the conclusion that people living in Informal Settlements are not passive dupes and pawns who are perpetually and helplessly victimised by their challenges.Infact, these people are rational strategists who expertly deal with their challenges with bona fide credentials in dealing with these health related challenges. The fundamental arguments in this book confirms arguments by Giddens that the structure is both constraining and emancipating since it is these health challenges that compelled informal settlers to devise coping strategies to deal with lack of health amenities.
