Hats Off to Mr. Boar, book 2 of 3 in the Cocky Chicks Series, dramatizes in rhyme a fifth-grade teacher's worse nightmare. "Before it's too late, will someone stop those cocky chicks from their disastrous fate." 1. six illustrations, 2. less than fifty words per page, 3. eye-appealing formatting, and 4. a glossary defining text-underlined words. * All year long principal/teacher Mr. Cock-Rooster exercises no clout which the cocky chicks don't want their parents to find out. To them, each school day is a holiday. It is sad to say, but they manage to string their tomfoolery into early May. But ah, upon sighting a feared figure sauntering through their classroom door, they gasp, then tilt their heads to the floor. Hats Off to Mr. Boar, showcases a conscientious teacher's grit, patience, and wisdom. For eight months straight, Mr. Boar, the fifth-grade teacher at Pine Township Elementary School, tolerates the rowdy-ruckus roar occurring daily in the classroom next door. Having no authority to interfere, he can do naught but persevere. That is until the opportunity arises. Then for the out-of-line cocky chicks, a lesson, in reality, he devises. Afterward, looking forward to summertime pleasure, the cocky chicks give little thought to Mr. Boar's warning measure. But wait. One bedraggled girl sees his intervention as divine. How his lecture changes her world is told in Korte's last parody, My Mind Is Totally Mine. Besides being fun to read, this rhyming parody also promotes diversity, builds vocabulary, teaches valuable life lessons, and emphasizes the importance of education.
Autorenporträt
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Entering the school of hard knocks at birth, struggling through college while raising a family during her 30s, directing a counseling business for 25 years, chiseling stone and molding clay to keep her sanity during her mid-life crisis, jumping into the writer's pool at age 70, receiving a 2018 CIPA EVVY AWARD (YAHOO!) . . . All this and much more make up author Mary Korte's legacy. Today she shares life with a wonderful, supportive husband. The two live in the Seattle area and winter in Arizona. When it comes to writing, versatility is Korte's strong point. She loves melding fantasy with reality, rising to challenges and venturing into the unknown. Her creative side pushes her to think outside the box, to do the unexpected, like creating a sidekick (Phantom) to harass her as she wrote her award-winning book. To date, Korte has eight books to her credit. They are: - FIVE EQUALS ONE - a 3-volume Christmas story boasting a thought-provoking message about ethnic diversity. NOTE: This series is not for kids under age 6, but it works well as a family read for kids who no longer believe in Santa Claus. - BULLY JAKE AND GRACE'S FATE, HATS OFF TO MR. BOAR, and MY MIND IS TOTALLY MINE - a 3-book rhyming parody series that allows readers to get into the minds of acting-out middle school students. NOTE: Most of the pages in these parodies contain less than 50 words-a definite draw for kids. - ONLY A SHOEBOX TO HIS NAME - showcases the tenacity of a foster child born crippled during the Depression. His story leaves one wondering if the insensitivities of the Welfare and medical systems contributed to him developing an inappropriate behavior, one he managed to keep hidden. - FORMATTING YOUR FANTASTIC BOOK, A STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE FROM IDEA TO PRINT - a how-to book for authors who want to self-publish but know little-to-nothing about formatting. This book garnered a 2018 CIPA (Colorado Independent Publishers Association) EVVY Third Place Award. READERS . . . After enjoying HATS OFF TO MR. BOAR, check out Korte's next rhyming parody: MY MIND IS TOTALLY MINE. Mary invites you to visit her website at www.HavetPress.com
