In Bangladesh, Luby et al (2011) found some effect of handwashing with water alone, and water with soap on child diarrhea. They found that washing one hand with soap is more effective than washing both hands with only water in terms of reducing child diarrhea in rural households of Bangladesh.

Md. Abu Taleb Biswas is working as a Senior Manager, WASH in Urban Areas at the BRAC. He has been working with BRAC since 2005. Prior to joining WASH programme in 2006 he worked in the National Nutrition programme. He completed his first Master¿s in Social Work from Rajshahi University and Master in Public Health from JPGSPH, BRAC University.
