The main purpose of this study was to identify the group characteristics that significantly influence the repayment status of Youth Livelihood Programme funds among youth groups in Mbarara District South-Western Uganda. The study was guided by specific objectives that include: To assess the group characteristics of youth groups that received the Youth Livelihood Programme funds in Mbarara District; To find out the repayment status of the Youth Livelihood Programme funds in Mbarara District; To determine the group characteristics that significantly influence repayment status of Youth Livelihood Programme funds in Mbarara District. Findings indicate that social ties, level of education of group members, marital status, period of existence of the youth group, and frequency of meetings statistically influence repayment status of Youth Livelihood Programme funds in Mbarara District. Therefore, the study recommends the Ministry of Gender Labour and Social Development and project implementers of the Youth Livelihood Programme to put more emphasis on the above five group characteristics for better repayment.
