This work investigates GREETING in the Biblical and Qur'anic texts, as these texts represent some standard forms of English and Arabic. The study tackles this language aspect on different linguistic levels. It adopts a multidimensional model of analysis. I submitted this thesis in 2011 to the council of College of Education, University of Babylon, as one of the requirements of the Degree of MA in English and linguistics. I am looking forward to any suggestions and recommendations in order to improve this work.
