Produktbeschreibung
This book analyses the interaction between the international and the constitutional dimensions of the Cyprus Problem from Colonial Conflict until recently that the two sides discuss under the auspices of the United Nations a federal solution. All the efforts for the solution of the problem, took place in a particular strategic environment that did not facilitate the peace process. More specifically, the strategic utility of Turkey for the west and particularly USA is according to our analysis an important variable that one should take seriously into account in order to understand the dynamics of the Cyprus Problem. In our analysis we use the theory of International Politics in order to highlight the dilemmas that week states face in implementing foreign policy, especially in case when they have to confront stronger actors, such as great powers and regional states that exert important influence on the periphery of the sub-system that they belong.
