This book examines the role of grassroots organisations in achieving the empowerment of women in the rural communities of Plateau State, Nigeria. In order to achieve this, the book explores the characteristics of grassroots organisations and their relationships with women's organisations in Bokkos and holds that these organizations can influence the empowerment of women for social change, self-transformation and community survival. Strategies for achieving this include the popular participation of women and community members in decision-making, planning and implementation of programmes and the empowerment of women in the community.
