And under the weight of those lines my attention began to crumble, turning from the bespectacled balding man at the front of the class to the raven-haired Sharon two desks to my left, those legs, hem of skirt an inch or two above the knees, and I was no longer listening to the drone of Chaucer, but instead found myself lost in a soft focus daydream where we're slow dancing at the Val Air, mirror ball stirring much more than the ceiling, Temptations singing I've got sunshine on a cloudy day... And half a life later here we are, empty nesters slow dancing across the living room floor because dreams can be timeless. As timeless as love.
