Wasfi Youssef has 3 degrees in Civil Engineering, including a Ph.D. from the University of Calgary, Canada. He also has a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of New York. Following his graduation from Ein Shams University in Cairo, Egypt in 1956, Wasfi worked as an irrigation engineer for one year. After that, he quit his job and worked as a structural design engineer with a big contractor. After 2 years, he was promoted to assistant chief engineer. In 1962, Wasfi decided to get construction experience. His first assignment was the construction of a big housing project consisting of 65 building, each containing 20 apartments in Aswan, Egypt, for the Russian technicians working on the construction of the Aswan High Dam and for the people of Aswan. Construction went too fast and too well. The Governor of Aswan called Wasfi to his office to express his appreciation and admiration. In 1964, Wasfi was promoted to chief construction engineer for Cairo South Water Treatment Plant. The plant has a daily capacity of 100,000 cubic meters (about 26 million U.S. gallons). With the nationalization of big companies by the Egyptian Government, Wasfi decided to immigrate to the West. His first choice was Germany. to prepare for his trip to Germany, Wasfi took to German language courses. Then, Wasfi got a scholarship from the Uniersity of Calgary, Canada to study a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, which he accepted. In Septemer 1966, Wasfi arrived in Calgary. In November 1969, Wasfi earned his pH.D. In January 1970, Dr. Youssef immigrated to the United States and settled in New York City. There, he worked at different companies on major industrial, environments, and marine projects. He held several important title, including senior structural design engineer, senior stress analyst, senior naval architect and marine engineer, and project engineer.
