Kelly Scott McWilliams taught upper-elementary school for thirty-four years in California. In 2008 after suffering a massive stroke, he retired earlier than planned. Surviving and recovering from the unexpected medical event provided him with a new perspective on life, and the opportunity to share a touching message in his first book, Gertie the Goose Wants to Vamoose.
