Peter Gould was the Evan Pugh Professor of Geography at Penn State University. His works have appeared in Harper's, Atlantic Monthly, and Time. He is the author of Becoming a Geographer, also published by Syracuse University Press. Forrest R. Pitts is professor emeritus of the University of Hawaii. He is the author or coauthor of several books including, Japan and Introduction to Cultural Geography.
