Garden writer A. L. Wicks makes her middle grade debut with a fantastical magic adventure filled right to the edges with magical plants, witches and wizards, and mythical creatures. Perfect for kids and young adults ages 10+, this book is sure to become one of the most read and reread books on your shelf. Set among the seaside towns and islands along the west coast of America, this urban fantasy feels like it could be happening right next door--which may be the most magical part of all. Gellan always knew he was a bit odd. He just didn't realize how different he really was . . . until he set off two disastrous events down by the cliffs. The first time wasn't his fault. The second time was entirely his doing. With no other option, he ends up in Cremstoll at a school called Gilsthorne. Only most kids in this school are like him and he finds he just might fit in for the first time. Until he realizes he can't quite do everything everyone else can. And maybe that's a good thing.
Autorenporträt
A. L. Wicks began as a garden writer, and is still an avid gardener. Readers quickly notice the influence of plants (and all their magical properties) in the Gellan Parker books. A. L. Wicks began writing the first Gellan Parker book in 2013. It was first released in November 2020, more than seven years later. The second book is scheduled for release in early 2022. Her very first book to be released is "Thanksgiving on a Sugarbush," a story about Sadie and her brother (Albert) who get to celebrate two Thanksgivings--one in Canada in October at their grandparents' home, and one in America in November on their own sugarbush farm. It is available on the publisher's website (ploppletop.com).
