Rita Wehunt-Black graduated from Sacred Heart College in Belmont, NC in 1972 with a BA in Education and History. She received her MA in Education with a minor in Mathematics from Appalachian State University in 1979. She was an educator with the Lincoln County school system for 28 years. Currently, she volunteers as the Coordinator of Exhibits and Archives at the Cherryville Historical Museum in Gaston County, NC.
