Adventure-seeking Capo leads his fellow snake friends on a risky and scary voyage as stowaways to the land of abundance, the Island of Guam. Immediately the brown tree snakes disappear into the forest and remain invisible to the islanders. The forest offers an abundance of prey such as birds, bird eggs, lizards, and mice but has a lack of predators, thus, allowing the snakes to grow in strength and to multiply rapidly. The invasion of Guam begins as the delicate balance of nature is suddenly interrupted and hungry Capo in search of food necessarily directs his friends to the villages. Snakes don't live like humans and don't follow our rules. Capo directs his friends to have fun, scare the people, but above all to help themselves to any available food. Snakes show up everywhere, and the villagers are terrified. Snakes want to share their beds, their bathrooms and join in the children's games. The brown tree snake is poisonous for a small person like a child. The danger is everywhere. The lights suddenly go out, the electricity shuts down, the TVs programs get interrupted because the shakes climb the electric poles and play games on the wires. Planes have must be carefully searched for "snake trespassers" for fear of transporting them to other locations such as Hawaii or Japan. The beautiful birds that attract many bird watcher tourists are becoming extinct. A Town Meeting is called, and a decision is reached: Get rid of the snakes! The very best scientists are called in to find a solution. An incredible plan is established, and it works. Mice are poisoned and attached to a piece of cardboard with kite-like streamers. This package is dropped into the tree canopy of the forest. Capo and friends see and smell the mice, and race to climb the trees and hungrily devour the poisoned mice. The snakes are in turn poisoned and "go to sleep forever" or die. There is no risk for dogs and cats in that the poisoned mice are delivered into the treetops and not to the ground. The story ends as Capo and all his friends fall asleep forever. The villagers rejoice in celebration as the delightful birds return to Guam.
