In this book, the author shares his observations of small-town Japan "from pebbles to boulders." Stranded in the city of Yukuhashi (northern Kyushu) in the first half of 2020 on account of the unfolding COVID-19 pandemic, he had ample time to reflect on his surroundings: The landscape, stones, rivers, houses, people, economy, politics, COVID-19, popular mythology and religion of small-town Japan, which are presented here in a selection of 96 photographs.
