This book is a compilation of papers that I have presented at different seminars. I decided to put them together in order to contribute to the ongoing discussion surrounding the issues of Blackness and Whiteness in South Africa and across the world. It is no secret that issues of race render others uncomfortable, making them exit the discussions or discuss them apologetically for fear of judgment of their views , however, it is vital to create a conducive environment in which these issues can be discussed more broadly, robustly, and without fear. These conversations need to be facilitated so that the unavoidable nervousness and quarrels that usually occur do not damage the gist of the deliberations, but that they can instead be used as scholarship openings; hence the book is titled Frank Talk.
