Photographer Kazuma Aseki first worked as a news photographer. In 1987, he started to take pictures of fireworks. After he obtained a qualification in pyrotechnics in 1997, he started to call himself a 'hanabist' (firework-ist), and since then he has been taking photographs of fireworks not only in Japan, but all around the world. He has also been studying the history and culture of fireworks.
