More than 3 decades ago I had a deep conviction that there was something seriously amiss with the home loan. They stump up the deposit, meet the solicitor's conveyancing cost and enter into a long-term repayment commitment over 3 decades or longer. This is undeniably an act of courage! I am sure that many of them don't realise what is involved. The lucky ones survive and there are those that are successful in other areas. Many though are not so lucky. The current Home Loamn (H/L) doesn't have any frills. It is a brutal facility that can see the family home lost overnight in a variety of ways. Some H/L borrowers will also never know that their loss might have been due to irresponsible lending (equity lending) - the lender's domain. Health issues, sudden job loss, death of a spouse, children with health difficulties are nearly always outside the control of the home buyer.
