The present paper is the first attempt of a complex research of peculiarities of directing in the Russian theatres of Moldova at the end of the 20th-beginning of the 21st century. On the examples of productions of the State Russian Drama Theatre named after A.P. Chekhov, the Transnistrian State Drama and Comedy Theatre named after N.S. Aronets, the State Youth Theatre of the Republic of Moldova and the Russian Drama Theatre of the Republic of Moldova. On the examples of productions of the N.S. Aronetskaya State Drama Theatre and the State Youth Drama Theatre "From the Rose Street", the author investigates the individual directing methodology, the problems and stylistics of the masters of the theatres, analyses the state of directing and reveals its specific features, as well as defines the role and place of the Russian theatres in the development of the Moldovan theatre culture. The work introduces into scientific usage an extensive, previously unknown source study and textual material, as well as information obtained through interviews.
