The book is an attempt to explore the influence of Family Environment on Substance Abuse among Adolescents. This was outcome of an empirical investigation supported by Rani Channamma University, Belagavi. It has been evident that there is a declining quality of family environment with reference to family interaction, family cohesion, family values, family communication, role performance by members of family, role conflict between the members of family, undemocratic decision making by the members in the family, lack of harmony in the family and poor adaptability in the family. The adolescence belonging to nuclear family, single parent family, woman headed family, having adult member in the family who abuse substances, over controlled or neglect by the parents are vulnerable to deviant behaviour including abuse of substances. Early interventions at family level, school/college level and societal level can prevent the incidences of the substance abuse among the adolescents. This book is helpful to development organizations intended to work on prevention of substance abuse.
