Authoritative reference providing comprehensive coverage of FACTS power systems modeling and simulation FACTS offers detailed coverage of the development of FACTS controllers and guidance on the selection of appropriate equipment, with computer modeling examples of the FACTS controllers for steady-state and transient stability systems and numerous case studies and practical examples included to aid in reader comprehension. The newly revised and updated Second Edition features several new chapters and many updates to existing ones. Additionally, the printed Matlab code of the first edition is now available in electronic form, accessed through a dedicated Wiley website. In FACTS, readers can expect to find detailed information on the following topics: * Modeling of FACTS controllers, modeling of conventional power plants, conventional power flow, and power flow including FACTS controllers * Three-phase power flow, optimal power flow, power flow tracing, low-voltage FACTS applications, and the many practical applications of FACTS * Two new FACTS elements (IPFC and BESS), plus information on state estimation, following recent trends by grid operators * Jacobian elements for facts controllers in positive sequence power flow and gradient and hessian elements for optimal power flow in Newton's method With comprehensive and authoritative coverage of the subject, FACTS is a must-have resource on the subject for postgraduate and undergraduate students in their final year of the electrical engineering and electrical energy courses. With its focus on practical applications, the text will also appeal to electrical engineering consultants and managers.
