The purpose of this study was to assess the factors contributing to tobacco use among adolescents in Lira Central Division, Lira district. The objectives of the study were to: To find out the causes of tobacco use among the adolescence, to assess the problems associated with tobacco use among the adolescents and to establish the possible remedies to address the problems associated with tobacco use among the adolescents. This study used a descriptive cross sectional design to investigate the research problem that employed both quantitative and qualitative approaches. The findings of the study were: That Tobacco use is the leading cause of preventable death. The findings of the study also concluded that Tobacco consumption is a major public health problem and people should be sensitized on the dangers of Tobacco use for them to be discouraged and quit it. The study lastly concluded that there should be Tobacco control policy put in place to restrict adolescents from using Tobacco among themselves. The study recommended that there should be interventions that increase the price of tobacco products, on the basis of strong evidence of their effectiveness in reducing tobacco use.
