Indica are grown throughout the tropical and sub-tropical region, Indica rice are grown in around 90% of world rice area and Japonica varieties are grown throughout the temperate zone and Javanica are grown mainly in the part of Indonesia.Therefore, present study has been conducted to assess the actual spreading of these newer varieties in terms of area with simultaneous reduction in the area under older varieties for rice crop and the increases in the average yield/ha.
