Tellurite resistance (TeR) determinat from uropathogenic strain Escherichia coli KL53 is harbored on conjugative plasmid pTE53, which consists of two clusters of ter genes. Tellurite resistance (TeR) determinat from uropathogenic strain Escherichia coli KL53 is harbored on conjugative plasmid pTE53, which consists of two clusters of ter genes. The first cluster of genes is responsible for the TeR terZABCDEF and protective region consists of terXYW. Only four genes terBCDE are essential for TeR and these genes were object of our study. The expression, purification and evaluation ATPase activity of the tellurite resistance operon is a part of our work. We have identified that C-terminus of these proteins is crucial for maintain of their function due to loss of original function after modification by His-tag. We established that protein TerC is membrane situated with 9 transmembrane domains and TerBDE are soluble cytosolic proteins. We have identified the dimer formation of TerB, TerD and TerE and interactions between TerD and TerE. The interaction between TerB and TerD/TerE were also detected. In the last part of this study we examined the response to oxidativ stress of TeR strains and strains harboring different part of TeR operon. We have also measured the total anitioxidant capacity of selected strains.
