Jan Jansen, Ph.D. (1995) from Leiden University, is Lecturer in Cultural Anthropology at Leiden University. He has published extensively on Mande oral tradition. Mountaga Diarra, Ph.D. (1993) from of the Institute of Sciences in Moscow, is Head of the Department of Literacy at the DNEB of the Ministry of National Education in Mali.
