Much research in entrepreneurship presents results as if they are universally and timelessly valid. Entrepreneurship in Context takes the opposite tack it studies entrepreneurship as a context bound phenomenon, filling a crucial gap in the entrepreneurship research. Each of the cutting-edge essays presented in this volume deliberately deals with entrepreneurship in one or more contexts: the individual, social, industry, cultural, ethnicity, environmental sustainability, institutional, and historical contexts. Because it purposefully introduces complexity by incorporating context, this book is not aimed at those who seek quick fixes. The diversity of settings and approaches results in a demonstration the many shapes and sizes of entrepreneurship, with context as a unifying theme.
This book aims to provide an insight into the role of context in the world of entrepreneurship. It studies not only narrow and wider contexts but also their interconnectedness, their dynamic nature, and the actions that entrepreneurs take to involve, engage, and influence their context.
