Several decades ago in the teaching field finding English for Specific Purposes (ESP)/specialized textbooks in the streams such as: mechanical engineering, carpentry, Electricity, Construction, sewing/tailoring, electronics... is a real problem in Africa, particularly in the Democratic Republic of Congo. ESL/EFL teachers are obliged to provide English lessons in these streams but they are stumped by the scarcity of textbooks. This book is one of the responses to students and professionals working in tailoring/dressmaking field. The program was developed by following a general demand around the country (DRC) from ESL teachers and inspectors and other practitioners including librarians, it contains the basics of sewing English for beginner students (1st to 2nd forms of tailoring stream). Specialized language (English for Specific Purposes) is part of language didactics and is widely applied in second or foreign language learning or training, addressing the direct and very specific needs of learners who need to make this language a tool in their education, training or employment. Thus, we can speak of English for science, law, for tourism, for the hotel industry, etc.
