Despite the extensive body of published work on the synthesis of this type of compounds, we are not aware of any report that describes a simple procedure for the annulation of an oxazole and /or oxazino nucleus to the pyranoquinolinone moiety to give a tetracyclic system. Oxazole and/ or oxazino derivatives have been found in numerous natural products and many of them have been shown to have an interesting broad range of biological activities, such as in inhibition of Streptococcus mutans biofilm formation,antipsychotics, HIV inhibitory, and anti-tumoral activities.
