In the present investigation the effect of salivary and digestive gland, alcohol and acetone extracts of Ariophanta pulmonata on angiogenesis especially CAM area, primary, secondary and tertiary vitelline veins was undertaken. Fertilized eggs of Gallus gallus were incubated at 380C and 70% relative humidity. In the embryos of 48, 55, 66, 72, 88 and 96 hrs CAM was exposed to 1mg/ml of different extracts and were further incubated up to 144 hrs and CAM was studied. Significant inhibitory effect of the salivary gland extract is evident. The inhibition of angiogenesis was highly significant at 48, 55 and 66 hrs of treated chick embryos. The anti-angiogenic role of complex carbohydrates form animal origin is discussed.

Dr. Ghanashyam Gonjari has obtained his Ph.D. degree in Zoology in 1989. Since then he has worked in Cell Biology,Biotechnology and Environment science. He is the author of several research papers published in reputed journals.He has worked as a member of expert committee of HRD Ministry Govt.of India and is guiding the students for PhD in zoology.
