Literature reports positive findings about the effect of lighting schemes on the recovery attitudes and times of inpatients in hospital environments when such are designed with due regard to new norms evolving in parallel to these findings. It being self-evident that such schemes would themselves have to be in operating condition for any benefit to be realised, it was considered only obvious that before any actual attempt at their implementation either in new, or in retrofit applications the first step would have to be an assessment of the degree to which this end was being maintained for existing installations. This book, therefore, provides an assessment for the current status of the lighting systems of a hospital as installed in its inpatient departments. Here, randomly selected wards and corridors were surveyed to determine the ratios of malfunctioning fixtures to existing ones. Analysis should help shed some light on such problem that while the system was in due working order, whether there were significant differences among area types and floors or not.It should be especially useful to professionals in hospital design, or in management/maintenance departments of hospitals.
