The main goal of this research was to investigate the potential use of organic additives to produce geopolymer materials with variable pore sizes to be used as potable water treatment membrane.

Antes de dedicarse a la enseñanza, el Dr. Shamsuddin trabajó en varias industrias de ingeniería en Oriente Medio, Malasia y Nueva Zelanda. Actualmente participa activamente en la enseñanza y el I+D en el Departamento de Ingeniería Química de la Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS. Su especialización principal son los materiales ecológicos, la conversión de residuos en energía y el tratamiento de aguas residuales.
