The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and propolis on the healing of experimentally induced bone defects in rabbits.Radiological and histological techniques were used to evaluate the healing process at the 2nd, 4th, and 6th postoperative weeks.Evaluation of the healing process was done on the bases of the number of newly-formed bone trabeculae and the length and width of these trabeculae. It was found that the use of autologous PRP alone lead to more significant healing in comparison with that obtained in both the propolis and control…mehr

It was found that the use of autologous PRP alone lead to more significant healing in comparison with that obtained in both the propolis and control groups. On the other hand, the use of propolis leads to retardation of healing process when compared to the healing of the bone defects in the control group. It was concluded that the autologous PRP exerted a beneficial effect on the healing process and could be used clinically.
