At the same time, the joint between the window frame and wall makes a thermal bridge which depends on how much insulation has been placed in the cavities after installation. Upon the decision of keeping the window, the status of this joint will be unchanged. This thesis deals with finding out the best economical solution for a company that has rental apartments in Gävle in Sweden, Gavlegårdarna AB. Which would be the best solution? Adding insulation on the frame, adding another pane or changing the entire windows? Once taken the solution, is the best economical option the most sustainable?

He studied the Bachelor¿s Degree in Industrial Technology motivated for the large variety of technological knowledge that UPC offered. Furthermore, he specialized in the Energy field in Gävle, Sweden, where this research was written.
