Shelley (Kaysspaki) is a Dakota woman registered to Wipazoka Wakpa, known as Sioux Valley, Manitoba. She is a proud grandmother and dedicates this book to her grandchildren and all children and helping professionals residing on Turtle Island. She is a Registered Clinical Master of Social Work residing in Alberta, Canada. She is a certified EMDR Therapist Consultant/Hypnotherapist who specializes in the field of trauma and has been working in the counselling field for thirty-plus years. She works within her private practice "Healing Pathways EMDR Counselling and Consulting," supporting individuals of all ages dealing with early childhood trauma, and ongoing traumatic events. She has devoted her life to experiencing and participating in traditional healing ceremonies supporting self and others. She has applied her traditional knowledge and experiences to support the clients in her practice. In addition, she offers a large variety of workshops teaching an adapted EMDR protocol to support not only the Indigenous/Native American people, but to include first responders, teachers, mental health professionals, parents, social workers, youth workers and children dealing with big emotions. She has presented internationally on historical trauma and more.Moses Spear Chief (Aastakaanna) currently works within the middle school population teaching Blackfoot language, history and culture of the people. He has a master's of social work with a minor in chemical dependency from the University of Eastern Washington in Spokane, along with a Blackfeet Educators License. Moses is a respected Elder and a member of the sacred societies within Kainai Nation, Alberta. Moses is a strong advocate for the importance of children to adults learning their traditional languages, stories and more. He is a dynamic presenter who teaches internationally with his spouse, Shelley.
