For eight decades, domus has been hailed as the world's most influential architecture and design journal. Founded in 1928 by the great Milanese architect Gio Ponti, the magazine's central agenda has always remained that of creating a privileged insight toward identifying the style of a particular age, from Art Deco, Modern Movement, Functionalism and Postwar to Pop, Postmodernism and Late Modern. Beautifully designed and comprehensively documented, page after page domus presents some of the most exciting design and architecture projects from around the world.

The International style of the late 1920s and 1930s is the focal point of this volume. Along with groundbreaking buildings, interior decoration, and furniture by international architects and designers such as Le Corbusier, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Marcel Breuer, Robert Mallett-Stevens, Alvar Aalto, and Richard Neutra, it is above all the work of the Italian avant-garde, including names like Giuseppe Terragni, Carlo Mollino, Gio Ponti, Melchiorre Bega, Franco Albini or Studio BBPR, that provides precise insight into the formative decade of Modernism. Tubular furniture, glass works by the firms Venini and Fontana Arte, as well as the most modern of industrial design are featured alongside American skyscrapers and functional office interiors.
