This system has caused disparities in health care, home ownership, wealth creation, life span, education, and employment opportunities, maternal mortality, and infant mortality, among others. Despite petition, marches, protests, and demonstrations over generations, the status quo remains steadfast. As Malcolm X said, "I for one believe that if you give people a thorough understanding of what confronts them and the basic causes that produces it, they will create their own program, and when the people create a program, you get action."
