The termite fauna of an area, locally known as Mianwali, was little known in the past and this fact prompted a dire need to carry out a detailed survey of District Mianwali regarding termite fauna and swarming patterns. Dr. Saima Nasir is an expert on termite identification and taxonomy. She has earned PhD from University of the Punjab, Pakistan. Currently she is serving as head of the Research and Evaluation Wing of the Pakistan Council for Science and Technology.
