The increasing unusual trend of various natural disasters are posing a fundamental question as to the role of government and how it would manage the disaster and what would be the more rationale and effective way of management. On realization of the reality, the Government of Bangladesh has undertaken a lot of plans and programs, community based initiatives for risk reduction through disaster management. The book presents the disaster management with highlights the government action and the programs, community based initiatives, indigenous coping mechanism which engages communities to deal with disaster risks. The objective of the book is to develop an understanding of the present status of disaster management of Bangladesh, the prospect and challenges ahead and also to identify the steps necessary to overcome the challenges in the managerial context.
Autorenporträt
The author has been working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Politics and Public Administration,Islamic University,Kushtia, Bangladesh. He obtained B.S.S (Honours) and M.S.S degree in Public Administration from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Currently he is writing research articles on numerous social issues and problems.
