The burial place of the Landgraves of Hesse in the princely crypt of the Homburg Residence forms a separate focus for the 17th century. Numerous tin coffins of the landgravial family bear impressive witness to the piety of a princely family in detailed biblical quotations and lengthy epitaphs. Since the end of the 16th century, inscriptions by learned theologians and jurists, pastors and officials as well as citizens have survived. The volume also contains a larger collection of half-timbered houses with poetic inscriptions.
