This MSc project describes the design of a microstrip slot antenna at 10.587 GHz for Doppler frequency measurement. A lot of techniques have been discussed in the literature review for designing a microstrip slot antenna and its merits and demerits. In hypothesis testing plenty of ways were taken to design the microstrip slot antenna. At last a centre-fed microstrip slot antenna was designed where the width of the microstrip transmission line was calculated from the TXLINE calculator; the length and the width of the slot were found from the complex impedance of the radiating slot and this was obtained by writing a mathcad program. After that, the microstrip slot antenna was designed in CST DESIGN ENVIRONMENT(TM) software to see the reflection parameter and the radiation pattern of the antenna. Desired reflection parameter and radiation patterns were obtained from the designed microstrip slot antenna. The results satisfied all the objectives and aims of the project.
