Hypertension is a disorder with a genetic background. The present study was undertaken to determine the association between certain dermatoglyphic patterns and hypertension. The study indicated that there was a significant correlation between the incidence of hypertension in those with arch type pattern in comparison to the control groups, particularly in the left middle finger. The P-value obtained for the fingerprint patterns for all the other fingers were above 0.05 indicating that there was no relationship between the occurrence of whorls, loops and arches in individuals with hypertension…mehr

The P-value obtained for the fingerprint patterns for all the other fingers were above 0.05 indicating that there was no relationship between the occurrence of whorls, loops and arches in individuals with hypertension and the non-hypertensive individuals. The study also shows that the mean frequency of the atd angle in both the right and left hands were not significantly different enough to indicate that there was a relationship between the two variables. The results of the study have shown certain specific association between dermatoglyphic patterns and hypertension.
