En outre, elle adore imaginer et construire des mondes, au point qu'elle se perd parfois dans ces lieux fictifs et merveilleux. Mais ce qui la touche le plus, ce sont les nombreux messages qu'elle reçoit régulièrement venant de femmes appartenant aux communautés noires, métisses et colorées. Ces messages expriment l'étonnement et la gratitude de ces lectrices qui se réjouissent d'avoir trouvé une auteure qui leur ressemble et qui écrit des livres dans lesquels elles se sentent intégrées.
