A médica Thaiz Rivera Vargas nasceu em Bogotá em 1983. Com a ajuda e o apoio incondicional dos seus pais, mudou-se para Paris aos dezoito anos para estudar genética. Após o seu doutoramento em bioquímica na Universidade de Paris-Sud, tornou-se investigadora para trabalhar na imunidade ao cancro.
